The Watermill inn and brewery is located in the small village of Ings, just 2 miles to the south-east of the lovely Lake District town of Windermere. The Watermill inn and brewery is situated nearby the A591 (main road from Kendal to Windermere). It in is in a great location for walking, cycling or driving through the National Park surrounded by cycle paths, pleasant walks and the wonderful Lakeland fells including the quaint villages of Grasmere, Ambleside, Hawkshead and many others are in easy to reach.
After a day out sampling everything the Lake District as to offer you could relax in one of the Watermill’s cosy bars, perhaps, pastes, some of their chefs, local food, and of course enjoy some of their extensive beer and wine collection. The Watermill Inn features in the good Pub guide to UK and was given the award of UK beer pub of the year 2011.
It also won the campaign for real ale Cumbria Pub of the year 2009. There are 16 real ales available, all traditionally hand pulled. There is a wide variety of food served from midday until 9 PM seven days a week. The menu constantly changes and the chef’s specials board has something to suit every power. There are eight en-suite bedrooms situated above the in which are bookable online for stays all year round.
The pub has its own on-site micro brewery. This was established in 2006 and is home of “Collie Wobbles” beer which has won several awards. The brewery is open daily throughout the year apart from Christmas Day. It provides an insight into the beer cellar and brewery will stop both dogs and children are most welcome to visit the brewery.
The Watermill is proud not to be a gastopub, they pride themselves as being a pub that serves proper English food. There really is a relaxed atmosphere at the Watermill just sit at the table and order anything you feel like. You can just turn up and enjoy a hearty meal after a tiring day out on the Lakeland fells. To top it off the Watermill supports Camra’s campaign for 100% beer in a glass.
