The Drunken Duck Inn and Restaurant

Having been owned by the same family since its purchase in the 1970s the drunken duck has seen many changes over the generations. The duck supposedly got its name when a landlady found the ducks lying on the road and assumed that they were dead. She started to pluck them and prepare them for dinner, but the ducks weren’t dead they were drunk! The landlady supposedly knitted waistcoats made f Hawkshead wool for the bald ducks to make up for her mistake, or so the local legend goes.

Lying right in the heart of the District National Park the drunken duck has amazing views of the Lakeland fells. Just a few minutes drive away from Coniston old man, Tarn Hows, and the breathtaking Langdale Pikes. Situated in over 68 years of private pasture land way above the stunning Lake Windermere gives the drunken duck and extraordinary aspect.
